Technical Data Sheets: Engineering Basis & Product Limits

Technical Data Sheets help engineers and buyers review the technical basis of a specific YONGFAN product family before final selection, drawing approval or procurement.

A TDS goes beyond catalog summaries to state exact performance test methods, operating boundaries, physical dimensions, material grades, electrical/control interfaces, and model-specific selection curves across all YONGFAN HVAC equipment lines.

What to Verify on Every Technical Data Sheet

Before incorporating a TDS into a tender or procurement submittal, verify operating test conditions, model-specific values vs. family boundaries, and document revision control.
Technical data sheet verification and engineering review process
Engineering Discipline

Read the TDS with Its Test Condition

A family that reaches 100,000 m³/h does not mean every size delivers that airflow. A pressure class stated for a platform does not describe valve control authority. Read the TDS together with its exact test standard.

“Up To” Family Range Misinterpretation

Confusing maximum family envelope limits with the specific performance point of a selected model size leads to critical equipment under-sizing.

Impact: Aerodynamic or thermal deficit in-situ

Test Language & Standard Conversion

Assuming a legacy G4 or F7 rating directly equals an ISO 16890 ePM rating without checking fractional particle test reports causes specification failure.

Impact: Non-compliance with modern project specs

Thermal MW Sizing at Different Temperatures

A heat exchanger rated for 1 MW at 95/70°C will deliver significantly less heat transfer when operated at lower primary temperatures or smaller LMTD.

Impact: Thermal undersizing on secondary loop

TDS vs. Project Submittal Package

A published TDS describes standard production; custom builds, project drawings, and compliance certificates must be combined for final submittals.

Impact: Complete engineering transparency

Technical Data Sheets Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to key technical questions regarding TDS vs catalogs, submittal packages, comparison metrics, and non-standard equipment.

Is a Technical Data Sheet the same as a catalog?

No. A catalog helps compare product families during preliminary screening. A TDS provides detailed technical data, limits, test standards, and dimensions for one specific model or family.

Is a TDS sufficient for final consultant approval?

Not always. Fans normally require the selected performance curve, engineered skids require a dimensioned project drawing, and fire/Ex products require supporting certificates.

Can I compare two filters from the efficiency number alone?

No. Compare the test standard (ISO 16890 vs. ISO 29463), rated airflow velocity, initial clean pressure drop, and recommended replacement resistance.

Can I compare two fans from motor power (kW)?

No. Compare the operating point on the aerodynamic curve (airflow vs static/total pressure). Motor kW does not dictate pressure development.

Can I compare two heat exchangers from nominal MW alone?

No. Thermal heat duty must be evaluated at identical primary/secondary inlet and outlet temperatures, flow rates, and allowable pressure drop limits.

Why can two TDS documents for the same family show different options?

Product families support different motor voltages, filter media grades, plate metallurgies, or option codes. Always confirm document revision and selected build code.

Are compliance certificates included directly in the TDS?

A TDS references standards, but official compliance certificates (e.g. GB 3836 Ex, 280°C Fire Test) are separate documents issued upon project request.

What if my equipment requires non-standard dimensions?

For custom W×H×D filters, non-standard fan casings, or custom skid layouts, YONGFAN issues a project-specific technical schedule and submittal drawing.

07 / Documentation Boundaries

Technical Data Sheets State Baseline Standards

Understanding document boundaries ensures clear engineering governance across technical submittal and procurement phases.
Boundary 01 / Factory Baseline

Standard vs. Custom Builds

A standard TDS reflects catalog baseline designs; custom option selections must be verified on the approved order schedule.

Boundary 02 / Aerodynamic Point

Selected Duty Curve

A fan TDS states envelope coverage; final submittals must include the specific selected duty point plotted on the fan curve.

Boundary 03 / Mechanical Freeze

Drawing Precedence

For physical pipe, duct, and civil foundations, the approved dimensional project drawing supersedes generic TDS dimensions.

Boundary 04 / Regulatory Proof

Independent Certificates

Standards cited in a TDS demonstrate design intent; formal inspection certificates provide certified legal proof of compliance.
