Air Distribution Plenums: YF-MOA Multi-Outlet Series

A multi-outlet plenum must divide one controlled airstream across several diffusers without creating excessive velocity, noise, imbalance or an installation layout that cannot fit the ceiling.

YONGFAN’s YF-MOA Multi-Outlet Distribution Plenums mate directly with YFVAV-S-T100 terminals, featuring internally lined acoustic sheet metal construction, six standard configurations (Types A–F), and configurable round spigot counts, positions and diameters to match any ceiling reflected plan.

01 / Ceiling Distribution Physics

Distribution Problems Show Up at the Diffusers, Not the Plenum Inlet

The upstream VAV terminal can control total zone airflow perfectly while individual diffusers receive unequal volume due to downstream branch geometry.

One outlet may blow hard enough to cause occupant drafts while another barely delivers air. Air naturally follows the lower-resistance path, so differences in branch lengths or elbows cause flow imbalance even when total airflow matches the zone setpoint.

A second failure is outlet velocity: undersized round spigots create high dynamic pressure, excessive pressure loss, and regenerated air hiss.

A third failure is treating the plenum as zone control. Outlets sharing one YF-MOA belong to the same VAV control zone. If rooms need independent temperature setpoints, they require separate VAV terminals.

Ceiling diffuser flexible duct connection to plenum box

ASHRAE Room Air Distribution notes that poor inlet conditions create nonuniform discharge at air outlets. Coordinated outlet diameter, branch lengths and spigot positions ensure balanced throw and low room NC levels.

Configured Spigot Placement

Spigot locations customized to the reflected ceiling plan keep flexible duct runs short, equal in length, and free of sharp bends.

Equalized Branch Resistance

Acoustic Internal Lining

Internal sound-absorbing liner attenuates terminal blade hiss and airflow turbulence before discharge into room diffusers.

Acoustic & Thermal Barrier

Direct Terminal Mating

Mates directly with YFVAV-S-T100 casing without transitions, saving ceiling height and eliminating field sheet-metal fabrication.

Multi-Diffuser Interior Zones

One YFVAV-S-T100 terminal controls total zone airflow (e.g. 1,600 m³/h), while YF-MOA splits air across four diffusers (~400 m³/h each).

05 / Manufacturing Standards

In-House CNC Fabrication and Fit Inspection

Manufactured in a 10,000 m² production facility with CNC automated bending, certified lining adhesion, and 100% inlet/outlet fit checks.
Precision Fabrication

CNC Automated Sheet Metal

Fabricated using precision CNC punch and automated folding equipment to ensure tight casing joints and accurate spigot collars.

Lining Integrity

Acoustic Insulation Bond

Factory adhesive application and mechanical pinning ensure acoustic insulation remains permanently bonded without erosion in high-velocity airflow.

Traceability

Unique Serial Code

Each plenum carries a unique serial number verifying custom drawing adherence, dimensional accuracy, and quality inspection sign-off.

Lead Time & Delivery: Standard regular orders typically 7–15 working days; custom spigot placements confirmed upon drawing approval. Export seaworthy crating provided.
06 / Architectural Boundaries

A Distribution Plenum Does Not Create Independent Zones

Key engineering boundaries to preserve proper thermal zoning.

Shared Control Loop

All diffusers fed from a single YF-MOA receive airflow at the same supply temperature and respond to the same single VAV room thermostat.

Single Zone Limitation

Branch Balancing dampers

If downstream flexible duct runs are significantly different in length, install manual volume dampers at diffusers to achieve fine balancing.

Branch Balancing

Ceiling Void Geometry

Always verify integrated terminal-plus-plenum length (1,000–1,100 mm) against available ceiling space before releasing fabrication drawings.

07 / Technical Q&A

Air Distribution Plenums Frequently Asked Questions

Direct engineering answers covering YF-MOA functions, Types A–F layouts, VAV terminal mating, acoustic lining, and zoning rules.

What does the YF-MOA do?

The YF-MOA takes one supply inlet from a paired VAV terminal and distributes that controlled airflow through several round outlet spigots to ceiling diffusers.

How many standard YF-MOA layouts are available?

YONGFAN documents six standard configurations, Types A–F. Outlet quantity, position and diameter can also be customized to order.

Which VAV terminal is designed to pair with YF-MOA?

The documented pairing is the YFVAV-S-T100 Single-Duct VAV Terminal, mating directly without separate sheet-metal transitions.

Are the YF-MOA dimensions fixed?

No. Final dimensions depend on the paired terminal size and the selected outlet arrangement. YONGFAN provides a matched configuration drawing with the quotation.

Can outlet positions follow my ceiling plan?

Yes. YONGFAN documents outlet quantity, location and diameter as configurable to order around lighting tracks and structural columns.

Is the plenum lined?

Yes. The YF-MOA uses an internally lined sheet-metal casing for acoustic damping and reduced condensation risk.

Can the plenum and VAV terminal ship as one assembly?

Yes. YONGFAN offers both a standalone matched plenum and an integrated terminal-plus-plenum configuration.

Does one YF-MOA create several independently controlled zones?

No. Several outlets downstream of one YFVAV-S-T100 remain part of the same upstream VAV control zone.
